Varekamp Coldstores Holland fully operational at new Maasdijk facility
Friday 24 October 2025
Varekamp Coldstores Holland has officially started operations at its new cold storage and packaging facility at the Honderdland business park in Maasdijk. The modern 6,000 m² site includes 14 cooling cells, 12 loading docks and over 4,000 pallet spaces. This expansion strengthens Varekamp’s role in the fresh produce sector and allows faster, more efficient handling of fruit and vegetable logistics.
Strategic location near the Port of Rotterdam
Located close to the Port of Rotterdam, the Maasdijk facility enables quicker container handling and improved transport connections across the Netherlands and Germany. The new building is designed for precision: cooling temperatures down to -3°C, with dedicated cells for drying ginger and maintaining optimal conditions for every type of produce.
Introducing in-house fruit packaging
A key innovation at the Maasdijk site is the launch of in-house packaging services. Varekamp now handles flowpacking, netting and repacking directly on-site, meeting the growing customer demand for flexibility and shorter lead times.
By combining these activities with Europe Retail Packing (ERP), Varekamp benefits from shared systems, advanced technology and years of packaging expertise. This collaboration brings together two strong teams under one approach, delivering seamless service from storage to packaging.
One system, one team, one goal
The integration between Varekamp and ERP demonstrates the strength of working as one company. Both now operate within the same software platform, GreenCommerce, offering customers full transparency and real-time insight into their products through an online customer portal. Together, Varekamp and ERP manage the entire supply chain: from ripening and cold storage to packaging, quality control and transport coordination.
Building for the future
After a smooth relocation in 2025, Varekamp is preparing for its first IFS Food audit, backed by ERP’s long-standing expertise in fruit packaging. Looking ahead to 2026, the focus remains on optimising every process and investing further in sustainable cold storage and packaging solutions.
